We understand getting youth proper instruction on the range is essential both for their short term and long term safety. We are happy to offer a variety of options for kids of different ages and skill levels.
Next month our monthly youth night will be May 24th.
This program has proven very popular for many firearm enthusiasts at our range. Once a month after the range is closed, we open up our rifle range for those too young to come out during our regular business hours (7-12 year old) and their parent/guardian. This event is for you, we don’t provide instruction at this time but do have multiple, hand selected range officers (usually the staff that night is made up of employees who are instructors and parents themselves). We only allow the kiddos to fire rifles at this time and only age appropriate calibers for each shooter. Parents or guardians must remain within arms reach of the kids when they are at the bench. This event starts at 6:00 on a Friday night and we keep the range open just for you until 7:30. The cost is $5 per shooter to keep it family friendly. All other range rules apply – everyone on the range will need eye and ear protection at all times. If you can think of any questions not answered here or would like to RSVP in advance send an email, firstname.lastname@example.org
If you need us to provide the instruction we can do that too during a private lesson with one of our instructors. We usually recommend young people start with .22 rimfire rifle versus a pistol if they’ve never fired anything before. If you are just interested in a lesson on firearm safety without the young person shooting we can arrange that as well. Our private lessons can be scheduled on our website here
**NEW** Youth Awareness Program Description
Youth Awareness Program – This safety seminar is a great opportunity for any age but specifically designed for the younger folks. We start in our classroom utilizing the NRA’s Eddie Eagle program including different hands on activities for the students based on age and ability. Class concludes on a private portion of our range with the instructor demonstrates the damage firearms can cause by shooting either a pumpkin or watermelon (depending on the season). Only the instructor will be firing the firearms during this seminar. The demonstration has proven effective for young people, giving them the valuable visual and solidifying the need for safety at all times. Sign up on our training schedule page, group classes. Email Tammy@HWRange.com with questions.
If you have any specific needs that cannot be met by the above options send us an email, we will look into how our team can best accommodate you and get back with you as soon as possible. email@example.com
